Covergirl just recently came out with some new products, along with what looks like a “rebranding”. The company has all new packaging and design that looks chic and sleek. It also looks very clean and professional, which caught my eye at the drugstore. Now I am always one to want to try new products in hopes of finding some great new staples in my daily makeup routine or for a night out.

I picked up a few of Covergirl’s new products; concealer, eyeliner, luminizing lotion, eyelid primer, and a makeup setting spray. They are a part of the “Vitalist” collection. I have had a chance to try them all out and let you guys know if they are worth the buy. I’m including each product’s claim and my own opinion.
Claim: “A soft-brush concealer pen that glides on smoothly and improves skin’s texture. Covergirl Vitalist Healthy Concealer Pen contains vitamin-infused formula which brightens your complexion for a fresh, healthy look. This full-coverage concealer pen is available in multiple shades from fair to deep.”
Review: Once I twisted it enough to get the product to finally come out, it applied to the skin very easily with the brush applicator. It seems to have more of a highlighting than a coverage effect. This concealer claims it is full coverage, but I think it’s more medium coverage. I had to apply a few times and build up to have more coverage, unlike the cult favorite Shapetape from Tarte. Overall, this is a good concealer to wear on light makeup days and to brighten the under eye area.
Claim: “Enjoy radiant skin with Covergirl Vitalist Go Glow Glotion. Infused with vitamins E, B3 and B5, this lightweight moisturizer with light-reflecting pigments gives your skin a naturally hydrated luminous glow.”
Review: I normally don’t go for that glowy/dewy look, but I did enjoy this luminizing lotion. I wore it under my foundation and just made my face look brighter, and in a good way. This “glotion” does have a strange smell that doesn’t seem like it would come from a makeup product, but it isn’t bad at all. I did notice I had to powder my face more often since I normally use a gel-like moisturizer instead. I would recommend this product if you have more dry/dull skin to brighten it up.
Claim” Covergirl Lid Lock Up eyeshadow primer gives you all-day, crease-proof shadow security. Prep your lids to maximize the wear and intensity of your shadow.”
Review: This eyeshadow primer starts out moisturizing and clear on the eye lids. However, it dries really fast and then becomes a bit tacky. This primer is better for very light eyeshadow that you don’t need to blend very much. I would not recommend this if you are going to be using more intense eyeshadow colors or using multiple colors. I normally wear a very light skin toned eyeshadow for every day so this primer works well for me. I saw no creasing by the end of the day, which is one of the main benefits of this eyeshadow primer.
Claim: “Covergirl Get In Line Liquid Eyeliner comes with a contour-grip handle combined with an ultra fine 0.1 mm tip to help you perfect the ultimate wing. This long-lasting, quick-dry liquid eyeliner is sure to be your new favorite!”
Review: You are going to need a very steady hand while applying this eyeliner. The tip is very fine, which isn’t always my favorite. I prefer a felt tip pen like this one. I feel like it is much easier to apply. The Covergirl liner did last all day though, which is a plus!
Claim: “Say sayonara to smudges with COVERGIRL Look Lock Up Setting Spray. Designed with a microfine mist for a weightless, barely there feel, our setting spray prevents makeup from smudging or settling into fine lines.”
Review: “This is probably my favorite item out of the products I tried. The main reason for that is it smells AMAZING. It smells very fresh, with a hint of cucumber. It also has a nice microfine mist, so you don’t feel like you are drenching your face. I felt like the spray kept my makeup on pretty well. I wouldn’t say this is a mattifying setting spray though. I did end the day with a “dewy” look, but that may have been from the glotion.
Let me know if you have tried any of Covergirl’s new products in the comments!
