5 Ways to Save Money at Target

Does anyone go to Target and think they are just going to buy one thing (like toothpaste or shampoo) and end up leaving the store having spent $50 or more? Oh right, that is everyone!

Since we all spend so much money at Target anyway, I want to show you 5 different ways you can save more money, on top of their already great prices. And who doesn’t like saving some money? Saving money just means you can buy more at Target! Yahoo!

Alright, let’s get to the savings! Here are 5 ways you can save some money while shopping at Target!

5 ways to save money at target

One of the easiest ways to save money at Target is through their REDcard. You can either sign up for their debit card or credit card. I myself, have the debit card which links to your actual bank debit card. Once you swipe your REDcard at checkout, you save 5% on your entire purchase! And let me tell you, 5% can add up if you are a Target shopaholic like me. So far I have saved $66 with the REDcard from just that 5% alone!

Target also has its own app that provides many additional discounts. You can search by category or you can scan an item’s barcode from your phone to see if the item is eligible for any discounts. I usually browse through the app in my car before I head in. Many times they even have extra discounts on clearance, so you can get an even lower price. These discounts are even combinable with Target’s REDcard which is awesome!

Another favorite app of mine is Ibotta.  This app also has discounts for many different places (Fred Meyer, Bed Bath & Beyond, Groupon) including Target! With this app, you first browse through different offers, make your purchase at any participating store, take a picture on your phone of your receipt, and the app will then match any available discounts to the items you purchased. Once you reach $20 worth of redeemed discounts, you are able to receive cash through PayPal, Venmo, or various gift cards. If you’re purchasing items that are listed on Ibotta, you might as well get some cash back. This is cash back on top of using discounts from the Target app or using a REDcard.

Pay off debt. Budget like a boss. Reach your financial goals.

Another way to save at Target is with manufacturer coupons. You know that pile of ads that get stuffed in your mailbox? Well, there are actually some useful coupons in there for health and beauty items such as; makeup, shampoo, conditioner, and toothpaste. It doesn’t take much time to cut out the coupons that interest you. These coupons can then be used at Target and combined with saving 5% with the REDcard.

Swagbucks is another way I save money at Target. Swagbucks is a website and app where you can earn gift cards by filling out surveys, watching videos, playing games, and shopping online stores through them. I have earned many Target gift cards through Swagbucks. Target gift cards are combinable with Discounts on the Target app or manufacturer coupons.

With these 5 different ways, you are sure to save some money at Target. I never leave without at least using one of the options above.

Now we can all feel a little less guilty for our Target obsession!

I love shopping at Target! I use Ibotta at Walmart and Costco all of the time, because that’s where I get my groceries. But I need to start remembering to use it at Target, as well!

I thought the RED card was a credit card. Good to know it’s a debit card too! I’ll go signup!

These are such good tips! Wish I’d seen them back when you originally posted, I would have saved more if I’d thought of the Red Card debit option (can you tell I don’t usually open store cards?)! I almost walked away without scanning my Cartwheel but the cashier stopped me. Still forgot to pull out my manufacturer coupons! Doh!!!
