The Best Products to Get That Summer Bronze

Summer may not quite be here yet, but summer temperatures sure have arrived! I’m someone that burns pretty easily, so I don’t naturally get that summer tan. Although that’s probably for the best. I would much rather use products to get that bronzy summer skin, and there are many ways to achieve that! There are tanning lotions, gels, tints, serums, mousses, and powder bronzers. I’ve tried many, so you know I have my favorites.

Liquid Bronzers

Honey Bronze Tinted Face Gel — This is a great light gel to apply to get a bit of a tan on your face. I like to use this in place of foundation in the summer. And at the end of the day, you can wash it right off.

Honey Bronze Drops of Sun — I love this product because you can use it a couple different ways. One way to use these drops is to add it to your moisturizer to create your own tinted moisturizer. Another way is to add a drop or two to your foundation for a slightly darker shade to mimic a tan. This is perfect for if you do get a tan from the sun and now need a darker foundation to match your skin better. These drops have no shimmer so it creates a more natural finish.

Dew the Hoola Matte Liquid Bronzer — This is another great bronzer for your face. You can either put in on bare skin in place of foundation or add on top of your foundation. This is one of my favorite products to get a nice even bronzy tan that can be washed off at the end of the day.

Vitalist Go Glow Glotion — This lotion is another product you can use in place of foundation. It does have a slight shimmer, but not too obvious. This lotion was also a part of Covergirl’s newest line that I reviewed in this post.

Powder Bronzers

Butter Bronzer — This is by far my favorite powder bronzer! It gives the best bronzy glow wherever you brush it on your face. It also has an amazing coconut smell that makes you feel like you’re in Hawaii. If you have never tried this bronzer, I highly recommend it!!

Hoola Matte Bronzer — This comes from the same brand as the “Dew the Hoola Bronzer“, just in a powder form. This a nice and natural bronzer. I also use this to contour my nose using a fan brush.

Sunless Tanning – Face

St. Tropez Classic Bronzing Face Lotion — I mentioned this lotion in my March favorites post. This bronzing lotion is pretty subtle but can be buildable if applied a couple days in a row.

Million Dollar Tan Extreme Face — Don’t be scared by the word “extreme” in the name, this is a fantastic face tanner. It creates a really even and natural tan. This is also buildable, so the more continuous days you use, it will gradually get darker. You see results pretty fast with this. I will put it on before bed, and in the morning I can already see a nice and even tan.

Sunless Tanning – Body

L’Oreal Paris Sublime Bronze Tanning Serum — This is a quick drying tanning serum, which is always a plus. I don’t use a tanning mitt with this since the serum is a light color. If you wash your hands afterward, there shouldn’t be any spots where you don’t want them. This does have a bit of shimmer, but nothing crazy. The tan you will get can last about a week, but I like to reapply about every 4 days to keep the tan dark and even.

St. Tropez Self Tan Bronzing Mousse — This was my favorite tanning mousse for a long time. It gives such a nice dark and even tan, that lasts for days. You will need a tanning mitt for this once since the mousse is a dark color and dries quickly when applied to the body. This mousse is more of a high-end product so it going to cost more.

Jergens Natural Glow Tanning Mousse — This is what I am currently using and love it! I use a mitt to apply this since the mousse comes out a dark color but fades into the skin when rubbed in. It is also fast drying. This mousse gives me a streak-free tan (if you apply it correctly) that lasts about a week. I like a darker tan so I apply about 2 times a week. One of the best parts of this tanning mousse is the amazing scent! Having a tanning lotion/mousse that smells good and works well can be hard to find. This product is also at a drugstore price, so you can keep up your summer tan without breaking the bank.

As you can see, there are many ways to achieve the perfect summer bronze without burning yourself laying in the sun. Have you used any of these products, let me know!

Keep up on all my beauty reviews!

  1. I used to use a jergens self tanner that would build up as you used it gradually but just didn’t like the smell. I have yet to find a self tanner that I can tolerate the smell of! I’ll check out the coconut scent one!

  2. I am really fair-skinned, so I always need to turn to bronzers and mix with lotion to try to get some type of natural looking color. The Lo’real Sublime Bronze is my go-to, but I may check out some of the others you suggest.

  3. I have been wanting to try sunless tan but I’m a little intimidated by it. I am the whitest shade of white you can possibly get, and I’m afraid I’ll look like an orange or something! But since I burn easily I’m just going to have to suck it up πŸ˜‚
